Gratitudes
Paying attention to things we are grateful for helps us keep in a good mood or lift ourselves out of depression. I hope that seeing my list of gratitudes will help you make a list of your own.
- I am grateful for my family surrounding me with love.
- I am grateful for my children growing into amazingly creative creatures.
- I am grateful for my animals, their loyalty, their snuggles, their eggs.
- I am grateful for my garden and the food it produces.
- I am grateful for the flowers blooming in their bold colors which brighten my day.
- I am grateful for the sun shining down on me, warming my shoulders.
- I am grateful for the clouds which bring much needed rain.
- I am grateful for the guidance of the spirit world, their reminders that they’re there for me.
- I am grateful for woods to hike in, wild animals to see, and the beauty of the evergreens piercing the sky.
- I am grateful for every bite of food my anorexic daughter eats. I’m grateful to Family Based Treatment for helping me learn how to put the weight back on her and help her return to health.
- I am grateful for my adult son’s process of recovering from addiction.
- I am grateful for my deceased son’s continued availability to me from the spirit world.
- I am grateful for miracles that I am now more open to see, experience, and welcome into my life.
- I am grateful for being able to help people in my therapy practice and through my writing.
- I am grateful for my home and my reliable vehicle. I am grateful I have permanent shelter to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
- I am grateful for running water to drink, to fill my bath, to easily wash my dishes and cook food in.
- I am grateful that I can make cider with a friend using my abundant apples as well as those that others don’t want.
- I am grateful for the squirrels I see scampering about, stopping to visit with me, and doing goofy tricks. I am grateful even though they ate all my Brooks plums!
- I am grateful that two of my sons got accepted to medical school.
- I am grateful that a third son is now in college.
- I am grateful that my two youngest children are doing really well in high school.
- I am grateful for snuggling with pets and family.
- I am grateful that I have a wood stove in which to build a crackling fire when it gets cold.
Where do I stop? The list just goes on and on. If we look for things we’re grateful for, it reminds us how many things there are to be grateful for.

The ocean…
Creaks….
Falling leaves….
The changing of the seasons….
Fall color….
Wild animals…
